Time to move the blog to a new URL

A lot of experimentation going on, Roller isn't really evolving so switching to a Wordpress based system on:
http://www.expatriates.se/wordpress

Soon enough the main URL will also move...

Onwards to Kuala Lumpur

View over KLCC from the hotel room at Hilton Sentral

Petronas Towers

All this flying between different timezones takes it's toll

Spent the whole week in KL working. I really like KL, first of all, it's a real city which isn't what you can say about Dubai. A part from that people are nice and the climate is much nicer than Dubai. I have been quite a lot in KL and other areas in Malaysia, mainly for vacations over the years but also a number of times for work over the last years. I can warmly recommend going to Malaysia.

Another Brunch at Jumeirah Beach

Gathered for Dubai's favorite Friday happening

Back from Dhaka it was time to spend two days in Dubai before heading towards Kuala Lumpur. Since we had some new visitors to Dubai it was time for Dubai's favorite Friday happening, the brunch.

This time we went back to a old favorite, Jumeirah Beach Hotel which wasn't as good experience as before, the food is still excellent but there was a general lack of service which isn't what you're used for there, especially not with those prices.

Back to Bangladesh

Not the best work environment

It's time to go back to Bangladesh for the third time to hold a series of customer workshop. Last time I was there I ended up staying a extra day due to a faulty airplane. This time I'm supposed to be there for 4 days together with Magnus. We also decided not to stay inside central Dhaka which can be fairly busy (especially the traffic is crazy). So, this time we went for Radisson SAS which is located between our office and the customers office.

Botswana

Need a haircut?

The biggest insect I've seen

Today we went to Gabarone in Botswana. However, since there where no air line tickets available we had to drive there which was a four hour drive. I'm not to disappointed though since it gave me a chance to see something else besides Johannesburg. I must say that South Africa is a extremely beautiful country and even though we didn't see any wild animals besides some baboons that where sitting on the fencing next to the road you really would like to go on a regular safari to see more of the nature.

Johannesburg is actually situated 1800m above sea level so the landscape is really nice and the climate is not as warm as you might think.

Second trip to South Africa

Again, a different view on bringing guns to work

Nelson Mandela square in Sandton, one of the few "safe" places...

Example of game you can eat at Butcher Shop and Grill

And a small encouragement in the restaurant

Time for another trip to Johannesburg. This time a number of customer meetings was planned and as I realized last time, Johannesburg has a lot of security problems so you basically don't move around as a visitor without knowing where to go. However, the hotel is next door to Nelson Mandela square in Sandton which is considered safe so we could at least go out to get a good meal of local game in the evening.

Last hunt 2007-08

Hunting in the morning

About to leave back to Dubai in the afternoon

Since I'm leaving back to Dubai today I tried to get as much as possible done. So at six o'clock I got on the train to Norrköping where my brother picked me up to go hunting. Even though most of the animals are out of season you can still hunt wild bore, hare and foxes. Unfortunately we didn't get anything but at least we had a nice day. At two o'clock my brother gave me a ride back to Norrköping so that I could get the train back to Stockholm again and then directly jump on Arlanda expressen out to Arlanda where I was flying back to Dubai over Munich. On the way back to Stockholm the snow started falling and when I finally got on the flight there had fallen quite a bit of snow.

So, getting up at five, going 250 km for some hunting and nature, back to Stockholm to continue to Dubai and landing in 25 degrees heat 24 hours after getting up this morning I was a bit tired, but at least I used the time to the fullest.

Dinner with the gang

Fredrik and Jennys new apartment

Ready for dinner

Work hard...sleep hard...

Tonight Fredrik has invited the gang for dinner in his new apartment that was just finished. It's always nice to meet your friends when you are back in Sweden and we always try to find time for at least one dinner. As usual however, since people are traveling and working a lot, people are getting tired quite quickly.

Going to Stockholm

Today I'm going to Sweden for a training. This usually means the Lufthansa flight leaving at 02:00 but during winter SAS is flying so now the flight leaves in the morning instead. Unfortunately it also means delays, bad service and a general bad feeling...

I had almost forgot how low budget SAS can feel, but first starting with a delay of 2,5 hours (which actually can't be blamed on SAS but rather the bad fog) quickly reminded me. Then, after takeoff, I had coffee spilled all over me without getting a offer of dry cleaning, just a quick excuse. This didn't really make the whole experience less irritating. Damage control isn't their best discipline...
