Getting a new camera

Nikon D300

Today I got my new Nikon D300 camera that I signed up for previously. I have used a Canon 300D previously, a camera I bought in the US a little more than 4 years ago. It has been a useful camera but a lot of things have happened with digital cameras over the years and I have been especially drawn to the Nikon 18-200 VR lens which would remove the need to swap lenses that much. So far I'm extremely happy with the camera, especially after adding a GPS adapter to the camera which allows me to geo-tag all pictures.

Nice sailing

The boat

Not to hard work

Beautiful day and perfect weather

Today I got the chance to sail with the Ericsson boat from the last Volvo Ocean Race down in Abu Dhabi. It's a really cool experience to be on-board one of these highly streamlined competition boats. There are virtually no dead weight and everything is build in a way to maximize performance and minimize weight.

New Year 2007

Irish village on New Years Eve

Fireworks

This year it was the same New Years procedure as last year and the venue for the evening was Irish Village down by the tennis courts by the airport. It was a fun evening even though last years novelty exceeded this years experience.

Christmas party 2007

Charlotte is in charge of the kitchen...

...and I'm in charge of the grill

Enjoying Christmas in 30 degrees

No snow yet

Christmas is coming up quickly and today it was time for the yearly Christmas party (although a bit early) since a lot of people are traveling back home for the holidays. You however miss some of the Christmas spirit when it's 30 degrees outside. Nevertheless we managed to cook some turkey and ducks and had a nice day out.

A goat in the back yard

Was sitting and having a casual conversation about the holidays with a colleague today about different traditions of the upcoming holiday season. Also, mentioning that Charlotte had past a Toyota Corolla with two goats in the back seat on the motorway. This got a explanation when he revealed that he too had two goats in the backyard of his house (in the middle of the community). These goats would be slaughtered and one third would be given to more needy, one third would be given to friends and one third they would eat themselves which is the tradition. Thinking of this, I stopped being surprised when I heard goats barking in the neighborhood during the season.

BeefEater

The wonder of BeefEater

Having moved to a house it's really time to get a good grill! Having some BBQ's in the back yard is something that you can really enjoy. We bought the grill when Fredrik and Erika was here last week, but I have been traveling constantly so there hasn't been time for us to have a good BBQ. Today however was the day to start a new tradition.

Diving in Oman

Goggles makes you look ugly(ier)

Charlotte and I

Nice sunset looking in over Oman on the way back

Fredrik and Erika

We started early this morning and the purpose of our trip was to go to Khor Fakkahn to do some diving. It's located on the Indian Ocean side of the Arabic peninsula so it was a 2.5 hour drive to get there. Once we arrived and had tested out all equipment it was time to go out and do two dives. Not the best dive waters, the sight was quite bad. We did however manage to see some sharks and we had beautiful weather so it was a good day.

Fixing the TV part 2

To my extreme surprise and happiness the people from Jumbo Electronics called today and said that the TV was ready and that they should deliver it during the day. I guess the time of wonders aren't over after all. The TV was delivered and everything seems to be working.
